What do anthropologists do: fieldwork to study religion and other social issues, holistic focus is not only on religion but on whole life of group of people involves spending a lot of time with that group, participant observation: being integrated into that culture to learn, ethnography: group of people, writing books/articles produced by anthropologists (madumo) Stages of ethnography: entering (entr e, culture shock, establishing rapport making common ground, gaining understaning, leaving the field, analyzing and interpreting, writing.
