Anthro is not just about the study of far away peoples and places (misconception) Study them to understand how poverty and racism shape their choice to sell crack and join gangs; studied by anthropologist philippe bourgois. Learned that poverty and the inability to gain a higher amount of education; get out of the crack dealer" life cycle (external forces of racism factor in this community)
