Caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi measles is viral. Immune status of host and virulence of pathogen important. As with other types of pathology, the response of bone is limited. Not all infectious diseases are significant health problems. Long terms chronic infection of soft tissue (spreads via blood to bones) Children shafts and metaphases of long bones. Adults vertebrae, hip, knee, joints and skull vault: mostly destructive; very little reactive bone formation, 25-50% of cases show involvement of the spine (usually not more than 4 involved vertebrae, mainly thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. Zoonosis a disease of animals that can be transmitted to humans. Known vectors cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, camels, buffalo, deer, antelope, elk, caribou. Brucella abortus cattle, horses; brucella melitensis goats; brucella suis pig; burcella canis. Spread by sexual intercourse (human to human transmission) In humans chronic infection of lungs; spreads via bloodstream to liver, spleen, lymph nodes and bone marrow.
