Graphic design that functions in a 3d sense: Malls; constant ads, in windows, posters etc. Long history that is tied to other media we"ve already seen. Can argue that books have covers before adobe illustrator; people used to draw things and etc for book covers/posters etc. Most gd goes through adobe/photoshop; basically online. Coordination of images, text, background, framing, and other elements that make the image come together. Really trying to answer problems that have nothing to do with the design. By law: you have to say how much is the weight, stating serving suggestion, legal obligations; the designer has to find the answers to where to put it and make it different from other boxes. Part of a cycle of reinvention and renegotiation. The function here is tricky: what is the task the designer has to respond to. Not just to id where it comes from; function of a shopping bag isn"t clear
