Musings of a work in progress: rheanne chartrand, curator of indigenous art, mma, state of the curatorial practise, state of indigenous work, animate the gallery space and animate art in new ways due to her jack-of-all-trades . Gazing back, looking forward: curated for the aboriginal pavilion, a 16 day indigenous art, culture and sport festival held during the to 2015 pan am games; mounted at for york visitor"s centre. Exhibition where the festival was being held. Contemporary indigenous art: focused on looking and stereotypes and ideas of indianness at a colonial place. I curate experiences : creator, not a custodian. Thinking about the public what does this work mean to to the community. Creating relationships between people and art: connect people with / to art bridge builder, role as facilitator of conversation, maker of space, sharer of stories, relational, collaborative and dialogic practice. Only include artists that give their permission for their work to be used: multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary.
