Violence is a contested term, which is often used without precision (paret, 2015: what/who is harmed/threatened, by whom, direct violence/structural violence. Hatred is an element of the struggle; a relentless hatred of the enemy, impelling us over and beyond the natural limitations that man is heir to and transforming him into an effective, violent, selective and cold killing machine. Our soldiers must be thus; a people without hatred cannot vanquish a brutal enemy. (guevara, 1967) Fanon on violence (the wretched of the earth) Violence wielded by oppressed people is transformative: colonizer shapes the identity of the colonized, pronounced emotional effects, violent response necessary to counter the violence of colonialism, results in the creation of new men ( rehumanization ) Action, not violence, equals power: power to vs. power over, violence destroys the conditions or politics. Oppressors nearly always have better access to violent means. Violence discourages support from others and confirms worst impressions .
