This work of art was commissioned by Enrico Scrovegni, after whom the chapel is named. He was the
patron.
Its been called Arena chapel because it was built on the side of ancient Roman arena
Originally attached to “oegi’s sustatial hoe that as just outside the it alls of Padua
house was destroyed in the early 19th century
