Document Summary

Creationism- god created every species how it is and it will remain that distinct way. Evolution is teleological: goal oriented, proceeding towards goal. Evolution through natural selection changes happen randomly and some get passed on to offspring. Bacteria with resistance do better so natural selection occurs allowing the offspring to also be resistant. Any physical trace of an organism that lived in the past, ex. Tracks, bones that have mineralized: can be dated via geological techniques (relative) , radiometric techniques (absolute) Many fossils have been left by organisms that are no longer around: extinct. When a species disappears from fossil record, a similar species often appears: same geographic area. A structure, often reduced, with no function that is similar to functioning structures in related species: appendix, tailbone, femur in whale, wisdom teeth. Species fall into groups: primates, carnivores, etc. Match colours to map ^^^: pattern of species living on nearby islands.
