Cellular RespirationGlycolysis Energy Investment PhaseGlycolysis starts with the molecule glucose This glucose molecule is phosphorylated when ATP drops off a phosphate group Hence it become glucose6phosphate the phosphate group is on carbon 6 Then glucose6phosphate is rearranged into fructose6phosphate since glucose and fructose are isomers Fructose6phosphate is phosphorylated when ATP drops off a phosphate group Hence it become fructose 16diphosphate The phosphate group is added to help this molecule split in the next step Energy Production Phase Next lysis or splitting occurs of the fructose 16diphosphate into two isomers dihydroxyacetone phosphate DHAP and phosphoglyceraldehyde PGALThen the enzyme Isomerase rearranges dihydroxyacetone phosphate DHAP into phosphoglyceraldehyde PGAL Now we have two phosphoglyceraldehyde PGAL molecules For each of the two phosphoglyceraldehyde PGAL molecules oxidation occurs and two hydrogen atoms and two electrons change NAD into NADH An inorganic phosphate 2group P is also added using the energy released from oxidation Hence the two phosphoiglyceraldehyde
