Document Summary
Made by microbial organisms (fungi, molds and bacteria) Involves formation of a chemical compound by a living organism. Structure of compound was deduced (chemical structures) and chemists would try to deduce it synthetically, which is normally the easier process. ; he saw that an organism was growing, interfering with the other organisms. Streak culture: nothing is growing around the region of the penicillium. Antibiotics block growth and multiplication of microbes. This helps microbes compete in natural environments. Antibiotics kill bactria by inhibiting feathers that are unique to bacteria and are absent from higher eukaryotes; the idea of any compound (ex, cells) that you want to use to kill some other form in your body. Compound has to be specific to the organism that you want to kill. 1: disrupting bacteria protein synthesis at the ribosome- Inhibiting the function of enzymes needed for dna and rna synthesis. The bacterial ribosome is the target of over 50% of widely-used antibiotics.
