Document Summary

Attached to at least two bones, with some exceptions. striations. Usually attached to a bone via a tendon. Wrapped in connective tissue that is continuous with the tendon. Long in shape, runs entire length of the muscles. Endomysium - connective tissue around the muscle cell. Fascicles - bundles of muscle fibres or cells. Order - epimysium, perimysium, fascicles, endomysium, muscle cell. Muscle fibre plasma membrane is a sarcolemma, containing the nuclei of the muscle fibre. Cytoplasm in skeletal muscle is called sarcoplasm - myofibrils (contain contractile machinery ) within. Muscle call composed of many myofibrils allowing the muscle to contract (contractile machinery). Lots of mitochondria to provide energy for the cell - located right along the plasma membrane and between myofibrils. Sarcoplasmic reticulumum and t tubulues - important for excitation and contraction of the muscle fibre. Whole muscle fibre innervated by one motor neuron. Sub mito are closer to capillaries which is where you get oxygen.
