Document Summary

The bronze age period following development and use of bronze, the primary metal used. A way of conceptually identifying broad cultural developments using technological developments (i. e the production and use of bronze) The bronze age is followed by the iron age. The iron age is the last prehistoric period ( c. 1100 bc - c. 800 bc) Prehistory is defined as the period before widespread development of writing. This means there were fewer clues to reconstruct culture. Dates for the development of bronze vary across the mediterranean, depending on culture. Therefore there is a degree of regional variation across the mediterranean. The bronze age was from 3300-1200 bc. Archaeologists have periodized this long chunk of time (i. e divided it into periods) The bronze age is divided into the early (eb), middle (mb), and late (lb) bronze age. The result of refinements in dating excavated data through accumulation and through careful study.
