Zeus was newly appointed as head god. Prometheus thought human life was basic, gave them fire stolen from zeus. Zeus didn"t want fire to be given to the humans, so he tied prometheus to a mountain and had an eagle feed on his liver every day. Prometheus said that if zeus ever had a child with the goddess thetis, their son would overthrow zeus, in order to prevent this, zeus married off thetis to a human. They did not want to invite eris the goddess of strife to their wedding, but she came anyways and rolled a golden apple inscribed with the words for the fairest , hera, aphrodite, and athena fought over it. Zeus didn"t want to decide who was the fairest, so he made a man named paris, the son of priam who was the king of troy, to decide. The 3 goddesses bribed paris with becoming a king, wisdom, and husband to the best woman.
