Effective leadership exerts influence in a way that achieves organizational goals by enhancing productive, innovation, satisfaction, and commitment of the workforce. Strategic leadership refers to a leader"s ability to anticipate, envision, maintain flexibility, think strategically, and work with others to initiate changes that will create a viable future for the organization. In theory, an organizational member can exert influence on other members, thus engaging in leadership. In practice some members are in a better to be leaders than others, although this formal leadership position does not guarantee that there is leadership. Individuals who emerge to occupy informal leadership roles due so because they are well liked or are perceived as highly skilled to exert influence. Leadership is about motivating people and gaining their commitment, Leadership has a strong effect on an organization"s strategy, success, and very survival.
