Think of it as a series of small tasks rather than one monumental project. Write a little every day: it can be edited later, getting into writing routine will improve your writing with time. Know what is required by your instructor, supervisor, and/or institution: for example, length of project, ethical protocols, format, deadlines, etc. Discuss your project even if you are not aware of any problems. Work out a timetable: consult your supervisor/instructor about it. Find out what resources are available for your research: for example, computer facilities, software, photocopying, etc. Databases include: communication abstracts, sociological abstracts, canadian periodicals index, race relations abstracts, lgbt life with full text, women"s studies abstracts, your university library catalogue, social sciences citation index. Looks forward to later articles that cite an original publication: google scholar. Mark records and email them to yourself (talk to a librarian!!) Saturation point: stop searching when the same items keep appearing, be sure to record full citations.
