Looking at how to review and find sources. Generally speaking, provides first hand evidence about an event, object, person or work of art. Could be: a law- statute or ruling, a policy government or private company (twitter, google, facebook, a patent, a form of interpersonal communication tweet, forum posting, online comment, phone or in person interview. Legislature: statutes: if you want to quote fair use in terms of your essay, directly quote the legislation as opposed to what someone is saying about it. Executive: executive orders and administrative rules or regulations, administrative agencies and federal departments. Judiciary: case law primary: and, legal scholarship citing statues and case law secondary. Canada: department of justice website, lexis-nexis: mcmaster. Us: lexis-nexis mcmaster (for both us and canada, go to library. mcmaster go to database law (there are other ones but lexisnexis is recommended) but go to lexisnexis academic. Canadian legislation, do all types of sources will search within canadian statutes.
