Current population: annual increase, china and india. Some questions: where do 7 + billion people live? (what is where?, what factors underlie this distribution? (why there?, what are the implications and consequences of this distribution? (why care?) Population geography: demography: the study of population, from greek, demos- a population, democracy, graphe- writing. They help us to collect senses data so we can make sense of our world. They report vital statistics- birth rates, death rates: population geography: the study of the spatial components of demography. In population geography we are studying people in place. Geographers study an approach of why care. Where people are moving and what is constraining their movement. Of concern to population geographers: growth (or decline) of population over time, spatial differential growth/decline of population, e. g. chinas population regulation on having only 1 child. This graph shows the drastic changes in population over the years.
