An alternative view: how do subunits obtain power. Alternative to everything out there on traditional power. Subunit power the degree of power held by various organizational subunits, such as departments. Could be a person, a team, or a group of people, a department. It is a view that sees power as something that accrues to (comes to) organizational subunits that cope with critical power. Critical factors that is impacting an organization effectiveness that are controlled by a key subunit. When you are subunit that is scared, then you gain power. If you are subunit that can do something that brings certainty to an uncertain situation, then you have power. Activities that are more central to an organizations work flow. Everyone is replaceable if you can think of a way where the organization can t let you go you have power you have power when you are more non-substitutable.
