Assignment 2
Background
- Use Porter’s value chain to show what departments are required to create value
for the company
- If the business is profitable they are creating value
- The value chain has the minimum departments that are required for a business to
be profitable:
1. Inbound Logistics (managing inventory – deals with suppliers)
2. MRP & Production (material resource planning – how many and what types
of materials do we need to order to fill all the customer demands)
3. Outbound Logistics (deals with the customers and shipping materials that the
customer has ordered)
4. Sales & Marketing (defining the orders from the customers in the company
and the documents that sales creates will be sent to other departments to fulfill
their part in the process)
5. Service
- Support departments:
Technology
Finance, accounting, procurement
Human resources
Firm infrastructure
- In the assignment you must refer to the diagram and say which departments are
used in the transactions (primary and support departments)
- Recommend to use the SAP names
Scenario
- Reselling scenario
- About a real company called Almika
- Provides heating equipment to customers (sells heaters)
- Have to:
Create and define material inside ERP
Provide a purchase order (submit to supplier)
Receive order
Create sales order to sell to customer
Ship material to customer
Do the accounting for the transaction
- If there is an error in the data it will create many problems in SAP system
- Master data: for the material, for the supplier, for the customer
- Master data for supplier and customer are already in the system (cannot create)
- Need to create own material master (activity 3 in assignment)
Be careful not to make mistake
Cannot change after it is submitted
