Grievance: any dispute there is an allegation that the collective agreement has been violated. Allegation represents a dispute to the interpretation of the ca, how its applied or administered. E. g. , every ca stipulates that every employer has just cause to discipline an employee. Individual grievance: individual employee alleges that ca has been violated e. g. , employee suspe(cid:374)ded the(cid:374) (cid:272)o(cid:373)es (cid:271)a(cid:272)k a(cid:374)d says it (cid:449)as(cid:374)"t just (cid:272)ause. Group grievance: more than one employee is alleging the employer has violated the ca. Multiple steps: vary per collective agreement. Referral to arbitration: few grievances go to arbitration. In situation where parties are unable to settle the grievance, they are referred to arbitration (union suggests its) Includes arbitration hearing, the law under ca is split 50/50. Hospital raises monthly parking costs for nurses. If the ca contains no language that restricts management, then the mgt. can implement it and vice versa.
