EARTHSC 2GG3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Delta River, Surface Runoff, Flood
Document Summary
Grand river flows through loo, kitchener, brantford, into lake eerie all around. Is basin, and all around basin is the divide. Either side of a divide, water flows two different ways. A divide is a ridge of higher land that separates which way rivers flow. No stream or river will cross the divide, all streams flow into grand river into lake eerie within a specific divide/basin. Continental divide the continental divide is located along the spine of the rocky mountains highest peak / point of north america it separates which ocean the streams and rivers will eventually drain into. Bed load: materials that roll, slide, or bounce along the bottom (eg. sand, pebbles, larger particples pebbles and gravel, etc. Suspended load: silt and clay particles carried in the water smaller fine grains, it accounts for 90% of the total load of most rivers. Dissolved load: material derived from chemical weathering of rock and sediment within the drainage basin.
