We tend to focus on various economic issues in non-conventional ways, where the primary goal is the maximization of economic well-being. We will evaluate conventional gdp accounting methods to see if these are reasonable proxies of well- being in a given economy. Since environmental wellbeing affects economic wellbeing, we discuss theories and issues related to environment and dynamic sustainability. Since health affects economic wellbeing, we also go over health economics issues. Poverty is an important theme in the current course. The link between economic growth, employment and poverty reduction is explored in detail. Before we analyze global poverty and income inequality, we look at the topic of the evolution of high income in. Economic issues related population, growth, labour productivity and the competitiveness of the canadian economy are covered. After discussing long-term growth policies, we evaluate our macroeconomic stabilization policies with regard to short-term economic fluctuations.
