Document Summary

There"s a smell, of a salty old beach bum. Can be created from the smallest of things. After written the lines can be adjusted to create a new poem with a potential new meaning. We were asked to pick a setting (ex. Across the shoreline) and given 15 minutes to write two lines that rhyme describing that setting. There were 10 lines in total because each set of rhyming lines had to do with a sense (texture, smell, taste, sound, sight) of the setting you chose. After our lines were written out we were asked to switch the last word of each line. These lines could be altered slightly but they were not meant to necessarily work out perfectly. Ex) original: the salt settles on my tongue, like old rum, Switch: the salt settles on my tongue, like a salty old beach bum. We listened to four clips of instrumental music twice.
