ENGLISH 2H06 Lecture : Dickinson Continued
Document Summary
Poems organized into groups of 5 or 6. Despite the manuscript dickinson did not want to publish her manuscripts she considered them the auctioning off of the mind. When they looked at the fascicles was editing nightmare as she had like 6 words where one could be. So finding the dickinson poem and its composition as an unfolding process would chime in nicely as to the finished poems themselves. Death: loss, mourning, rites and rituals, as transition. Mind: consciousness, process of thinking, seeing, belief, states of mind. Poem: words, meaning, metaphor, symbol, revelation as embodiment of mental processes. She then offers him a crumb and then he responds to that offering. Looking into the possibility of relationship, and the offering and the prospect, she humanizes this bird but realm of nature and realm of humanity different with different rules. Is a bird that has decorum and kindness.
