Catherine morland has a big family that is not very wealthy. Mr. and mrs. allen ask her to accompany them to bath. In bath they go to a party and catherine bumps into her future husband mr. henry. She is stared at by isabella thorpe"s (her new friend) brother (john thorpe) Her and isabella share a common interest in steamy romance novels. Isabella"s brother also says he shares this interest he is lying. Catherine"s brother (james morland) comes to bath; isabella thorpe and him fall in love. James morland goes off with john thorpe to get a ring. John thorpe suggests that catherine and he should think about marriage so he will pick one up as well. Catherine does not know what to see, so he reads it as a shocked yes. Catherine and henry tilney"s little sister (eleanor) hit it off quite well.
