Ma n s fie ld p a rk: one of two novels that have place names. Northanger abbey and mansfield park: book of people that are wealthy. Place of authority: like northanger abbey where there was a dysfunctional family. Similar thing in mansfield park, it is a story of a dysfunctional family: sir thomas, lady. Bertram who seems to be mentally unstable, the daughters are terrible, edmund is the truly good son. Both narratives are about families that in some way are dysfunctional. The narrative is going to go from sir thomas as the authority figure to fanny being the authority figure; the person of moral figure and true health: mansfield park is in many ways a cinderella novel. Edmund and fanny are the brother and sister role (not related) Other forms of brother and sister go after edmund and fanny. Austen gets the plot going very quickly in this novel and doesn"t waste anytime getting to the nitty gritty.
