ENVIRSC 1C03 Lecture 6: Module 6 - Climate Change
Document Summary
Floods climate and weather processes have affected humans for many centuries for example, human activities are disrupted by floods. Droughts prolonged droughts make the growth of crops nearly impossible. Rainfall heavy rainfall in mountainous areas may lead to downslope mass movement, such as mudflows, which destroy settlements and may lead to the loss and human lives. Wildfires result in the loss of timber which is an important economic resource result in loss of property in regions where villages are located near dense forests. Anthropogenic climate forcing change in climate resulting from human activities at a local to global scale for example the change in the chemical composition of the atmosphere since 1750 has impacted the equilibrium between the atmosphere, ocean and biosphere. Change in ch4 methane concentration have also risen leading to increase in amount of energy trapped at surface largely due to agriculture becoming more and more important methane is released by rice paddies and livestock.
