ENVIRSC 1C03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Geosphere, Cryosphere, Pedosphere
Document Summary
The old view: the natural world where humans are absent, where humans do not affect the environment. Recent view: humans exist with and affect the environment. Atmosphere: mixture of gas molecules, small suspended liquid or gas molecules, and falling precipitation, gassiest part of earth, from surface to exosphere. Hydrosphere: liquid, inc snow and ice , frozen part is called cryosphere. Lithosphere (geosphere): geosphere, rock, soil, sometimes called pedosphere, provides habitat and a source of nutrients. Environmental science: the study of how the natural world works, how humans affect the environment and vice versa.
