Volunteered geographic information- posting tweets, facebook posts that all have geographic tags. Government health organizations take about 2-3 weeks to report illness and longer to disseminate trends (not effective) Medicine 2. 0: increasingly people get and share much of their medical /health info from websites and social media. Twitter data has been shown to be an effective proxy for public health trends. By using tweets we managed to speed up the reporting time of illness, we can see where the outbreak originates, can track it over several weeks and see how it spreads. Geo technology: one of the three mega technologies for the 21st century and promises to change how we conceptualize, utilize and visualize spatial relationships in scienti c research and commercial applications. **gis is a collection of hardware, software, data, methods and people designed to capture, store, manage, manipulate, alayze and visualize all types of geographic data.
