Maps are neither mirror of nature nor neutral transmitters of universal truths, they are natives with a purpose, stories with an agenda, they are biased, partial and selective (short 2003) Political geography: the study of inter-relationships between people & states & territories - at a variety of spatial scales (local, national, international: a branch of human geography concerned with the study of the spatial dimensions. Canada has multiple nations but not just a singular nation. Norwegian massacre 2011, where 80 people were killed, as an anti-muslim message, bc a nation was becoming too diluted with muslim, thus the person lashed out. State: a political unit associated with an area with de ned and recognized boundaries, they are political units. Territory: the geographical area (spatial extent) of states; usually with de ned and acknowledged boundaries (though these may be contested) ** spatial component.
