Introduction to political geography; state, nations and territories. Political units (i. e. countries): the basic division of the world. Closely related to language, religion, etc. (i. e. culture) One of the ways we have divided up the country. Why does the political map of the world look like this. It reflects the current cultural differences, as well as historian influences such as colonialism and globalization. How and why does this map change over time. Conflict and issues of the states stability and instability. Also elections, how they work, very much connected to geography. Political geography the study of the geographical manifestations of political phenomena- especially the effect that states have on individual and group behaviours. What role does the government have on the lives of the individuals. How is education and health care delivered to the people. How and why states are organized into regional groupings, both formally and informally. The function, demarcation (placement) and enforcement of territorial boundaries.
