Space: a real extent , used in both absolute and relative forms. Absolute space: absolute space is objective, physically real, with measurable extent and definable boundaries. Key for mapmaking and description & analysis of spatial boundaries. Relative space: relative space is subjective/perpetual and variable over time. Mcmaster, some may call spacious, some may call crowded. Apartments, some may refer to as cozy. Sketch maps, scale, distance and positioning are guestimates. Absolute (mathematical) location: latitude and longitude co-ordinates using an arbitrary mathematical grid. Relative (perceived) location: subject to change and interpretation. A short drive from downtown, or a long drive depending on where you are. If you make the drive all the time you may have a different opinion. A location of significance is given a name. Place: a location with a particular identifying or meaning or significance (individual or collective) E. g. child hood home is a place to us because it has meaning or significance for us.
