Location: refers to a particular position in space. Latitude and longitude using an arbitrary mathematical grid. Relative (perceived) location: a short drive from downtown or adjacent to cootes paradise. A location of significance is given a name. Place: a location with a particular identity or meaning or significance (individual or collective) Sense of place: the personally significant attachments we associate with a place. We go to places to see their personal characteristics. Sacred place: places that have particularly strong meaning to individuals or groups. Placelessness: some places evoke little to no meaning whatsoever ; linked to homogeneity and standardization. Distance: the amount of space between two or more locations. How long would it take to get from one place to another.
