Search for the Truth in the Social Sciences -is the earth round? -yes but not perfectly -how do we know if something is a fact? -authority/integrity of the source -reproducibility of results – distinguishes science and social science -exact date and time of earth’s creationth less than 5000 years old -accepted as fact until early 19 century -what is the source of our knowledge? -role of tradition and authority -who’s voice is more respected? -many sources of errors -casual versus scientific observation -selective observations -illogical reasoning -with so many sources of errors, how can we be sure? The Creation of Reality -reality does not exist – it is created or socially constructed -reality differs
