The Final Examination covers: • Lecture notes: Lectures 19- 26, 28 – 36; • The textbook chapters: Chapter 1, pp.7-13; Chapter 3, pp. 60-70; Chapter 4, pp. 86 – 91, 102-109, 114-117; Chapter 5; Chapter 7 , pp. 180 - 190; 192 - 208, 210-211; Chapter 8; Chapter 9, pp. 249 – 264, 266- 268. 1.4. The final examination (non-cumulative) is worth 40 % of your final grade. 1.5. The final examination paper includes 80 questions and consists of two segments: Segment 1: Define the Term • The segment includes 40 questions, and each question is worth 1 mark. • You can get 40 marks maximum for this segment. • The segment includes 40 geographical terms that the students have to define. • Questions 1- 20 are based on the textbook. • Questions 21 – 40 are based on the lecture notes. • Doesn’t have to be too long or detailed  some terms in text book have a 3 word definition, some will be longer  one sentence or less is generally enough Segment 2: Fill in the Blank Questions • The segment includes 40 questions, and each question is worth 1 mark. • You can get 40 marks maximum for this segment. You can get maximum 80 points overall for the final exam. 2. FINAL EXAMINATION POLICY AND REGULATIONS THESE REGULATIONS APPLY TO ALL EXAMINATIONS AND TESTS CONDUCTED BY THE OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR. 2.1. GENERAL All candidates must comply with University Examination Regulations. Students who do not observe these regulations will be required to withdraw from the examination. 2.2. IDENTIFICATION CARDS McMaster validated student photo identificatiocards are REQUIRED AT ALL EXAMINATIONS. Students who seat themselves at an examination without photo I.D. cards may be required to withdraw from the examination. Students who arrive without photo ID cards will be required (before being seated) to obtain a temporary substitute card from room B114 in the Ivor Wynne Centre or room 1016 in the Michael DeGroote Centre for Learning. A $30.00 fee will charged to the student’s account every time the student uses this temporary ID service. No extension of the examination duration will be permitted to compensate for any processing delay. 2.3. PUNCTUALITY Punctuality is essential and no extra time will be allowed to those arriving late. No candidate will be allowed to write an examination more than 30 minutes after the start of any session. 2.4. CONDUCT IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM NO CONVERSATION or any form of communication between candidates is permitted in the examination room. NO CELL PHONES, laptops or any communicating or electronic devices are permitted. NO BOOKS, PAPERS OR INSTRUMENTS may be taken into any examination room unless specifically prescribed on the examination paper. NO examination books or supplies are to be removed from the examination room. FOOD IS NOT PERMITTED in any examination room. Drinks must be in spill proof containers. Handbags or small personal belongings must be left beneath the chairs. Students are expected to use the washrooms before and after NOT during examinations. You are responsible for writing the correct examination from the right instructor at the place and time indicated on your personal examination timetable on MUGSI. 2.5. AFTER THE EXAMINATION No candidate may leave the room to withdraw from an examination during the first 45 minutes of any session. Candidates must leave the room immediately after handing in their examination materials. 2.6. MISSED EXAMS/ILLNESS If you miss or leave an examination for medical or personal reasons, you may submit a “Petition for Special Consideration” form with supporting documentation to the Office of the Associate Dean of your Faculty, normally within five working days of the missed examination. 3.
