The railway: changes everything, first commercial railway between manchester and liverpool, rail network rapidly developed across england, railway lines are private enterprise, require government assistance to expropriate the right of way, gov. Readily accepts: spurs steel industry, becomes the world"s leading economic power, transportation revolution. Urbanization already was happening as a result of enclosure. Countries overseas require british engineers to build railway networks and share expertise.
