The more agricultural regions had more violence because of collectivization because they had more to lose. Cows taken away from peasants tended to die. 1928-1932 (the first 5 year plan, completed in 4) Churches were often taken over by police and turned into buildings because they were the only well built buildings in rural villages. Absenteeism is severely punished, you could lose your job for being late and that job was linked to your housing and food supplies. If you lose your job, you lose everything. Transit and roads are not good getting to work was hard! But sometimes sympathetic bosses would bend the rules. Wage differentiation began, skilled workers started making 4x the wages of unskilled workers. Sunday was no longer a day of rest, machines were never turned off, you"d have a rotating day off (monday one day, tuesday next week etc. ) Prison sentences introduced for labour discipline on the railroads.
