Religious revivalism is a reaction to fear i. e. progress of science, progress of materials, political change. The market revolution and the rise of a capitalist society were main fears in this time. Perfectionist theology: the idea that humans are not incoherently sinful and that they could become perfect here on earth by making the right choices. This ideology led to the push for a perfe(cid:272)t a(cid:373)eri(cid:272)a a(cid:374)d a(cid:374) e(cid:373)phasis o(cid:374) (cid:373)a(cid:374)"s (cid:272)apa(cid:271)ility to (cid:272)reate it. There were different types of religious revivals across america. Frontier (methodists, baptists emerged from this revival) New england (unitarians, they were against the doctrine of the trinity, god was one person)
