We left off last lecture"s discussion looking at outside and insider perspectives on and sources of information about the history of sport and games of canada"s first nations and some contemporary examples of traditional and modern indigenous games. In this lecture we are going to continue this line of enquiry by looking in more depth at the sports, games and pastimes themselves. You will need to have already read and digested that information before watching this lecture. By the end of this lecture you will understand more the types of games played by people of various first. Nations, and the special place that what is known as the creator"s game, lacrosse, occupies in aboriginal culture. Understand how some anthropologists have categorized american indian games. Understand some religiomagical and spiritual connections to aboriginal games according to salter. Understand the role that the creator"s game (lacrosse) occupies in haudenosaunee [howd in sawnee] culture.
