Document Summary

Ontario has the highest mortality rate because it is the largest province. In 2009/11 the period life expectancy at birth was 79. 3 for males and 83. 6 for females. In the last 10 years those numbers have increased for males by 3. 6 months every year; and decreased for females by 2. 4 months per year. It used to be 7. 4 years (in the 1970s) and now its at 4. 3 (in favor of women), therefor there is a decrease in the gap between men and women. Men used to have a higher death statistic because previously they were constantly being sent to war, or sent to fight, etc. and this made their deaths before 65 more common. Vital statistics are quantitative data that concerns a population (i. e. number of births, number of marriages, number of deaths, etc. ). They are chronologically filed by dates and geographical areas. We have more statistics on men, even though it didn"t benefit them to be studied.
