Three things common now: medical science able to effectively treat hiv/aids with new medication. Challenge of living with new medication and being involved in personal medical management. Critical of the medical/industrial complex that emerged once there was a market for treatment of hiv/aids. Canada and the 11th aids conference = shift to hope (3 points: medicalization to end the epidemic. A cure (imminent) institutionalized via media and technology. Death sentence no longer aids is a manageable disease however it becomes a medical industry along with a big pharma threat. Spoke to the injustice of pricing the medication.
