The rate increase of mi going up in the last 100 years is true for almost every disorder, but remember that the disorders have changed in meaning and symptoms. We are not getting better at solving mi. People who claim long-term disability is going up. Measurement of happiness, life satisfaction, personal distress - non diagnosable mh stressors - are getting worse. All of this is paradoxical because there is an increase in the number of people employed in the mh sector and more types of therapies. The first place many people start is the dsm - for some people it is more of a problem than an aid.
