In industrial societies, drugs that weaken productivity viewed negatively, drugs that boost productivity viewed positivity. If its prescription, it"s a good thing; if its someone on the streets it"s a bad thing. Prescription addiction: since 1990"s, prescription drug addiction has eclipsed narcotics in terms of social harms and epidemiology. Opioids, beznophines, stimulants, most common: two images of prescription addiction: those innocently addicted to drug for the purpose it was prescribed; those who use the drug to achieve a separate effect. Imagined division reflects continued desire to moralize about addiction. It"s hard to be when pain exists and how it exists. Access to drugs and are the reliable: diversion. From the factory, the md"s office, the pharmacy, the patient. Controlling the supply of these drugs is one of the most important things. Diversion takes many forms for example when drugs disappear/ different sights of robbery. Fraud forgery and much more: some may purchase from dealers but most common supplies.
