HTHSCI 1H06 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Bone Resorption, Limb Bud, Synovial Joint
Document Summary
4 tissues of msk system: nerve, motor, sensory, glia, connective, fascia, tendon, ligament, cartilage, bone, blood, epithelial, epidermis, endothelium (blood vessels), synovial membrane (synovium, muscle, skeletal, smooth (blood vessels) Bone development from cartilage: embryo at 5 weeks begins to make a cartilage model from which bones will develop, bones are developed from mesenchyme > chondroblasts secrete. Ligaments: dense regular connective tissue binding bone to bone, medial and lateral collateral ligaments (knee, cruciate ligaments form cross in inside/between bone (knee, interosseous membrane allows for attachment of muscles (in leg between tibia and fibula) Ligament sprain: has good blood supply so it will bleed and form hematoma. Muscle strain: too much stress on muscle/tendon, tears connective tissue, bleeding/hematoma, the medial head of the gastrocnemius is a common area for muscle strain. Arthritis: inflammation of synovial joints, can be caused by excess stress at young age.
