KINESIOL 1A03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Commissure, Rod Cell, Medial Rectus Muscle
Document Summary
****order: light cornea aqueous humor lens vitreous chamber retina macula lutea fovea centralis. Opening, showing black from the melanin of choroid behind it. Dark configuration (rhodopsin): light not yet percieved: cgmp keeps na+ channel open, rod cell = unstimulated, glutamate is continuously released, bipolar cell is inhibited, neurotransmitters are not released. Light configuration (rhodopsin): light has been perceived: cgmp becomes gmp, na+ channel is closed, rod cell = hyperpolarized, less glutamate released, bipolar cell no longer inhibited, neurotransmitters released. Lacrimal canaliculus: superior and inferior, at punctum, drain into nasolacrimal sac. Vitreous humor: jelly for shape and flat retina. Macula lutea: yellow in center of retina, cones. Optic disc: where optic nerve and blood supply enters. Ciliary body: secrete aqueous, alters shape of lens. Far point of vision: 20 ft, ciliary muscles relaxed, lens flat. Near point of vision: 6 inches, refraction, ciliary contract, lens thicken.
