Somatic: cell bodies in anterior horn, exit through ventral root into spinal nerve to skeletal muscle. Autonomic: cell bodies in lateral grey horn in brainstem, ventral root, spinal nerve. Because of location of cell bodies of neurons within cns; originate in lateral horns of spinal cord in t1-l2. Neurons ventral root spinal cord join in spinal nerve enter sympathetic ganglia. Sympathetic chain ganglia: collection of postganglionic cell bodies, close to spinal cord, connect to form 2 chains on either side of spinal cord.
