Document Summary

Shoulder, like ankle, is a series of joints that come together. Shoulder girdle is the scapula and clavicle together. If scapula goes up, its elevation and if it goes down its depression clavicle goes with it. Scapula also goes protraction when we push scapulas away and retraction is pulling them together. Scapula speci c motions: scapula can rotate and the arm goes up (glenoid fossa goes up), we get superior and inferior rotation, anterior tilt (coming up and forward) and posterior tilt (coming down and back) Winging scapula is when we can see the whole medial border of the scapula. Sternoclavicular (sc) joint: clavicle ts into sternum and turns as if it were a key, medial end of clavicle translates relative to sternum as shoulder girdle moves. During elevation of shoulder girdle, medial end of clavicle is sliding down and if we depress shoulder griddle, medial end of clavicle is sliding up.
