KINESIOL 1A03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Superior Oblique Muscle, Ciliary Body, Choroid
Document Summary
Protects the eye from excessive light and foreign objects. This is where the two palpebrae meet. Has a pink mound called the caruncle: the caruncle contains modified oil and sweat glands. A mucous membrane that lines the inside of the eyelid. It folds on itself to cover the anterior white of the eye. It forms a pocket to stop objects from entering the posterior portion of the eye. It responds to irritants that cause inflammation to the conjunctiva: this is called conjunctivitis, this leads to bloodshot eyes. The portion that lines the white of the eye. The lacrimal gland produces tears: the tears gets released to the surface of the eye through lacrimal ducts. The excessive tears move medially and inferiorly towards the medial canthus: here they enter openings called puncta, the puncta is located on both the upper and lower eyelids.
