Surrounding the trabeculae: single layer of cells; mostly osteoblast cells, some osteoclast. Tends to be found in inside bones and flat, short, and irregular bone, and in the ends of long bones. Compact: blood vessels run thru the bones itself. Some run the length of the bone, which are located in the central (haversian) canal. Inside this canal, loose connective tissue and the nerves for the bones here. The central canals are connected to each other within the bone.
