Collective bargaining: resolution to problems, encourages a legal contract with employer, increase worker power if bargain as a whole, contract between the two sides- balance. Keynesianism: idea that unions have an essential role to play in boosting not just workers but economy as a whole, based on one word demand . He diagnosed that the depression was a result of demand: you cant have a mass production economy without a mass consumption economy. Workplace powers: contained conflict, creating balancing powers between employers and employees, giving workers an organization that will speak for them. Once a union is there, it is the exclusive representative of the union. Protection, stability, balance: rights in organizing & certifying, for union. Employers cannot target workers for joining a union. Cant intimidate workers or force them into meetings. Means under the wagner model (not under the original law) that unions get dues security. Dues collected by the employer as part of deductions on payroll.
